Currently, fraudsters are again distributing links to fake login forms that look deceptively genuine. Always check the domain name in the address bar!

E-mails with dubious links are not uncommon, but a recent wave clearly shows that you should never rely on the appearance of the page before entering your password. Here, the fraudsters display the TU Freiberg website in the background and show the fake login form and logo in the foreground. Exact copies of our login pages for webmail and other services have also been used.

Always pay attention to the address line!

Check the domain name in the address bar every time before you enter your password on the web. The domain name is highlighted in colour by the browser and is always tu-freiberg.de or ends in .tu-freiberg.de for university services.

If you are not sure, please contact informationssicherheit [at] tu-freiberg [dot] de (informationssicherheit[at]tu-freiberg[dot]de) or call the IT Service Desk on -1818. Please forward suspicious emails as attachments - you can find out how to do this in the guide: Forwarding emails as attachments.

What is important for suspicious emails?

Be vigilant when reading your emails. Check carefully before clicking on links or opening attachments. You should be particularly suspicious if you notice any of the following points:

  • The sender is not using the usual sender address or
  • the address does not match the sender,

  • the grammar or spelling is unusually poor,
  • they are trying to put you under pressure (exceptionally urgent or important),
  • they include an attachment or a link.

If you are unsure about a message, ask and play it safe!

  • Call the supposed sender or
  • write directly to a known email address.
  • You can also contact the IT Service Desk (see below).
