The university's rich tradition and goals for shaping the future responsibly come together in the mission statement. An important part of our mission statement is the commitment to values such as openness, dialogue, equality and mutual respect. With the mission statement, we have created a foundation to jointly shape the sustainable success of TU Bergakademie Freiberg as the German resource university.
Mission Statement
1 I Profile: In the networked profile lines Geo, Materials, Energy and Environment, we see ourselves as the resource university.
Research and teaching at TU Bergakademie Freiberg are geared towards the global challenges of the 21st century - the sustainable, safe and economic extraction, provision and utilisation of scarce resources. We conduct research along the entire value chain, supported by interdisciplinary networking between mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, engineering and economics as well as global partnerships in science and practice.
2 I Sustainability: Scientific knowledge and the responsible use of resources are maxims of our work.
With top performance in research and teaching, we take responsibility for a sustainable resource economy. Through excellent research and teaching, we work with partners to achieve pioneering results, train highly qualified junior staff and actively participate in the transfer of knowledge to the real world.
3 I Values: Motivation, appreciation and the ability to engage in dialogue across disciplinary boundaries define the way we work together.
Transparency, the ability to engage in dialogue and cooperation enable us to achieve close professional networking within the profile lines.
With excellent infrastructure, a creative working atmosphere and creative freedom, we offer researchers, teaching staff and students an optimal environment in this network.
4 I Tradition: Conscious of our rich history, we dedicate ourselves to the questions of the future.
At the world's oldest university of mining sciences, we stand in the tradition of the achievements of important scientific personalities. We are committed to our history and our location. At the same time, we preserve values and traditions as a basis for the continuous development of our university.
5 I Passion: We inspire people for science.
We arouse enthusiasm for our specific research and teaching profile and promote academic life in Freiberg. We create opportunities for lifelong learning.
6 I Togetherness: Social and intercultural skills are our particular strengths.
We approach people, cultures and ideas with openness. We realise equal opportunities.
The informal atmosphere of our university is one of our advantages.
