Before application/registration

Unfortunately that is not possible. Only after having completed your Bachelor's degree successfully you can apply for an English-language master's degree at our university.

No, relevant documents for enrollment must be uploaded to the portal during online enrollment. 

The documents do not have to be notarized for the application. Verification is carried out by the education databases of the federal states. 

The documents must be translated into either German or English, one of these two languages is sufficient.

The application periods for English and German-language degree programs differ. You can find an overview on our homepage. Please note that not all degree programs are offered every semester. Further information can be found on the relevant course pages.

Foreign applicants for undergraduate degree programs should apply via the uni-assist portal

During application/registration

Please contact the admissions office via e-mail and tell us the error ID. 

E-mails regarding the change of your application status will be send to you automatically. If you applied on the German website you only get German notifications. Please use an online translation tool to translate the message.

Please leave the fields „Average Grade“ and „Date of acquirement“ blank. If you earned your degree outside Germany, you can leave those fields blank. In any case you should be able to proceed with your application without filling in these fields.

Please choose the option „Other acquisition of the HZB abroad (general higher education entrance qualification) “.

Please only enter completed university semesters in Germany here. 
 

After application

Two applications can be submitted for English-language Master's degree programs. For German-language Master's degree programs, you can only submit one application. If your application is rejected, you can withdraw it and submit another application. 

You can change the semester in the university portal. Please withdraw your application for the wrong semester.

Personal data such as the name can only be subsequently changed by university employees. Please contact the Admissions Office and enclose a current ID document with your request.

You only need to upload the documents which are required during the online application process. There is no need to upload other documents.

Send your revised files as a PDF document to the Admissions Office, stating your applicant number. The staff will amend your document accordingly.

You can view the current processing status of your application at any time in the university portal. If your application has the status “valid”, this means that the examination by the Admissions Office has been completed. Your application has been forwarded to the selection committee in the faculty for a decision on admission. Please note that this process may take some time due to the large number of applications. As soon as a decision has been made, you will receive a notification in the university portal (your status will change). In the meantime, please refrain from inquiring about the status of your application. 
 

To extend your admission, please submit a new application for the desired semester in the university portal. Please note our application periods. During the application process, you will be asked for a previous letter of admission. Please upload your existing letter of admission there. Once we have received your application, we will extend your letter of admission without re-examining it.

You can view the current processing status of your application at any time in the university portal.

If your application has the status “valid”, this means that the examination by the Admissions Office has been completed. Your application has been forwarded to the selection committee in the faculty for a decision on admission.

If your application has the status “in process/temporary excluded”, this means that you do not meet the admission requirements. A further selection procedure will take place in due course, in which we will consider you. Once this process has been completed, you will receive the final decision in the form of an electronic notification.

Please note that this process may take some time due to the large number of applications. As soon as a decision has been made, you will receive a notification in the university portal (your status will change). In the meantime, please refrain from inquiring about the status of your application. 

You can view the current processing status of your application at any time in the university portal.

If your application has the status “in process/temporary excluded”, you will receive an invitation to the online test as soon as possible.

If your application has the status “valid”, this means that you have passed the online test and the assessment by the Admissions Office has been completed. Your application has been forwarded to the selection committee at the faculty. You will receive an appointment for the online interview.
