Certificates are used on the Internet to encrypt and decrypt data and to create or verify digital signatures.
The TU Bergakademie Freiberg is part of the GÉANT framework agreement and uses the certificate authority (CA) offered through it as a certification authority.
Important information:
The contract between Sectigo and GÉANT has been cancelled and the provision of services will be discontinued as of 10 January 2025. Current information on the new service provider (HARICA) can be found on the DFN overview page "Current situation DFN-PKI and TCS".

- The contract between Sectigo and GÉANT has been terminated, and service provision ended on January 10, 2025.
- HARICA now serves as the new Certificate Authority. Due to the short-notice transition to a new certificate provider, certificate availability is currently still limited. However, HARICA is working intensively to expand its services and align them with previous requirements. An up-to-date overview of the certificate types currently available through HARICA can be found on the DFN overview page “HARICA”.

Customer benefits
Employees and students of TU Bergakademie Freiberg can hereby obtain certificates. The certificate holder is responsible for the security of their private key! This must be protected against theft, misuse and loss.
