If you are interested in maths, computer science or natural sciences but are not yet sure whether your future career should take you into business and science or whether starting out as a teacher and working with children and young people might be the more suitable option, then you have come to the right place.
Economics, Science, or Teaching? With us, the choice is yours!
With our STEM bachelor's degree programs in Applied Natural Sciences, B.Sc. and Applied Computer Science, B.Sc., you will not only acquire a sound scientific education, but the programs are also designed to pave the way for you to become a teacher at secondary schools in Saxony. This gives you the flexibility to tailor your career path to your individual needs – whether in research, business, or teaching. Your potential, your decision.
Three ways to become a Teacher
Option 1
Direct entry into teaching: After completing one of the optimized degree programs, you will have earned the ECTS credits required for recognition in two subjects and gained initial insights into teaching practice and school reality. After completing a master's degree, you will meet the requirements for lateral entry into the preparatory service (also known as a teaching internship) at secondary schools in accordance with § 4 LAPO II (2) No. 1. a).
Option 2
Transfer to teacher training at TU Dresden: After completing your bachelor's degree, you have the option of applying for credit for the academic achievements you have completed at TU Dresden. Thanks to the high degree of modularization of the teacher training program, TU Dresden is currently the best partner for transferring to teacher training in Saxony.
Option 3
Doctorate or business: Your studies naturally also open up opportunities outside of teaching. Whether you pursue a doctorate or go into business, you can always switch to teaching at any time. This allows you to shape your career path flexibly.
The academic training for two teaching subjects is already completed with a bachelor's degree in one of the two optimized degree programs. For applied natural sciences, the subjects chemistry and physics are recognized. For applied computer science (specialization in mathematics), the subjects mathematics and computer science are recognized. If you then successfully complete your master's degree, you can start the preparatory service for teaching in Saxony (teaching internship) as part of a lateral entry. There you will acquire the theoretical foundations of educational science and subject didactics.
Gain Practical Teaching Experience during your Studies
Even while you are still studying, you can gain practical teaching experience at schools on a voluntary basis – and best of all, you often get paid for it! This allows you to better assess whether teaching is the right career path for you. We support you on your journey with pedagogically supervised case supervision groups, special training and counseling, as well as by finding suitable placements in the region.
