The Geosciences Collections of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg are among the most extensive, most important and oldest collections of their kind in the world. Since the opening of the Bergakademie at Easter 1766, the collections have primarily served the education of students and young scientists, but also the further training of specialists.

They are divided into six thematic sub-collections.
