From 25.02.2025, the ArcGIS software will only be available as a named user licence. To obtain the licence, you must register via the TUBAF online portal. You can then download the software installer from the online portal. The following instructions will help you with this process step by step.
1. Open the online portal
Open the ArcGIS online portal of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. After opening the link, you will be taken to a landing page. Click on the blue button "TU Bergakademie Freiberg" to be redirected to the login field.
Enter your university login and your central university password in the login field to authenticate yourself. In some cases, additional verification with your private token is required. You can find more information on this on our how-to page for two-factor authentication.
2. Download ArcGIS Pro
After successfully logging in, you will be taken to the ArcGIS Online start page. Click on your user profile at the top right and select "Your own settings".
Navigate to the "Licences" section in the settings. Search for "ArcGIS Pro" and make sure that a licence is available.
Click on "Download ArcGIS Pro" in the licence area. Select the desired language version (e.g. english version 3.4). Click on "Download" to start the installation process.
3. Install ArcGIS Pro
After downloading, open the downloaded file, for example ArcGISPro_34_en_193134.exe. A Windows security dialogue will then appear in which you click on "Run".
In the next step, select a storage location for the installation files and confirm with "Next". Once the files have been unpacked, close the process by clicking on "Close", which will start the installation programme.
If a missing prerequisite such as the .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0 is displayed, click on the provided link "Download .NET Desktop Runtime (x64)" and perform the installation. Wait until the installation is complete before you start the installation of ArcGIS Pro again.
Then accept the Licence Agreement and click "Next". You can now select the desired features or keep the default options before clicking "Next" again.
Start the installation by clicking on "Install" and wait until the process is complete. Finally, complete the installation by clicking on "Finish".
4. Start and activate ArcGIS Pro
Open ArcGIS Pro after installation. You will be asked to enter the ArcGIS online URL of your university. To do this, enter "tubaf" in the red box (finally, tubaf.maps.arcgis.com must be in the URL field). You can then select the option "Remeber this URL" to automatically log in via the TUBAF university URL in future. After entering the URL, you will be redirected to a login field where you must log in with the central university login (e.g. ab12abcd) and the corresponding university password.
After successful login, ArcGIS Pro is ready for use.
