Snapshots are taken of the data on the ZFS1 shares (e.g. the users' home directories) at regular intervals. This makes it possible to restore versions of a file from a specific point in time.
Snapshots
- hourly: within the same day
- every eight hours: within the same week

Restore a previous version of a file
- Call up the affected folder or file on the relevant ZFS1 share (e.g. your personal home directory).
- Select "Previous versions" from the context menu (right mouse button).
- All existing snapshots are listed.
- Select the desired version and click "Restore".
Alternative: Call up snapshot directly
Alternatively, you can access previous versions by entering the address line of the snapshot in Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer, e.g. w:\.snapshot or w:\~snapshot.
An Explorer window opens with the directories of the most recent snapshots, with the lowest number representing the most recent backup (hourly 0...5, nightly 0...1).
