Student involvement to mark the 20th anniversary of the Dr Erich Krüger Foundation

Do you have an idea that would make life at TUBAF better – more social, more vibrant, more sustainable? Then now is the perfect time to turn that idea into action.

To mark the anniversary of the Dr Erich Krüger Foundation, we invite all undergraduates and PhD students to contribute an idea and actively shape the university life you’d like to see. The range of projects is wide. The main thing is that they contribute to the university as a living space.

How do you apply?

Describe your project idea in no more than two A4 pages and send it to us by 14 August 2026 to kommunikation [at] tu-freiberg [dot] de (kommunikation[at]tu-freiberg[dot]de). 

Your project outline should include the following information:

• What is the problem, or where does your idea come in?
• What is your proposed solution or idea for improvement?
• Who needs to be involved, and what resources are required?
• What might a plan for implementation look like?

What happens after you’ve submitted your application?

The jury will select the three best project ideas. Each will be awarded 500 euros.

If your idea is successful, we’ll support you with a workshop on 2 October 2026: you’ll develop your project, build a team and learn how to turn an idea into real impact.

The Grand Finale

The winning ideas will be presented to the public and awarded prizes at the gala event on 27 October 2026. Your idea will take centre stage.

What makes a good idea?

A strong project ticks these boxes:

• The idea benefits as many students as possible – from a variety of disciplines.
• It is implemented on the TUBAF campus.
• It noticeably enriches students’ studies or campus life.
• It is concrete and can be implemented within a year.
• Implementing it does not require significant financial resources.
• The workload for staff at TUBAF and, where applicable, the Studentenwerk is manageable.
• You’ll be actively involved yourselves – the project thrives on your commitment.

What you’ll gain from this

You’ll become shapers of your environment, receive support and encouragement in putting your ideas into practice, and gain real-world experience in bringing about change. That’s exactly what counts later on.
