Reinstallation of the eduroam configuration for Windows

On 9 December 2025, the certificates previously used for eduroam login will lose their validity.

It is therefore necessary to install an updated eduroam configuration on all end devices.

To do this, it is necessary to create a new eduroam password for each device.

Step 1: Download geteduroam app

Download the latest geteduroam app from the website https://www.eduroam.app/.

Step 2: Start geteduroam app and install new profile

Start the geteduroam app and click on "Select another profile".

Step 2.1: Select TU Bergakademie Freiberg

Write "TU Bergakademie Freiberg" in the search field and select the entry.

Step 2.2: Accept profile

Click on "Next" to select the new profile for installation.

Step 2.3: Install the DFN Community PKI certificate

Now the new root certificate of the DFN Community PKI will be installed. Select "Install"

Now confirm the dialogue for installing the certificate with "Yes".

Step 3: Manage eduroam passwords in the service portal

Leave the configuration window of the geteduroam app open and log in to the service portal. Here, select the menu item "eduroam WLAN".

Step 3.1: Create a new eduroam password

Now create a new eduroam password. Enter a meaningful description (e.g. the name of the device). Then click on "Create eduroam WLAN password".

Copy the created password using the "Copy to clipboard" button. The password is only displayed in plain text when it is created. As soon as you close the dialogue, it is saved in encrypted form.

Step 4: Enter access data and establish connection

Now switch back to the geteduroam app and enter your access data. In the "Username" field, enter your central URZ login followed by "@tu-freiberg.de". Enter the password you have just generated in the password field (copy and paste). Then save the configuration using the "Connect" button.

Step 5: Remove old eduroam passwords in the service portal

Once the new configuration has been set up, the previous password can be removed from the service portal.
