The ZIH of TU Dresden and the URZ of TU Bergakademie Freiberg have jointly developed the research database. It makes it possible to store the vast amounts of research data in the long term in accordance with the guidelines of the EU and the DFG, to make it publicly accessible and to preserve it in the long term. The archived research data is stored at both sites to ensure the secure preservation of the data.

Customer benefits

With the new research database, scientists at TU Dresden and TU Bergakademie Freiberg have the opportunity to archive their digital research data for at least ten years free of charge.

The goal of the OpARA project is to develop and provide tools, methods and workflows for the management of research data in a cross-disciplinary repository with a long-term archive.

The institutional repository enables long-term storage, adequate description and management as well as publication of the data for subsequent use ("open access").
