The Saxon Science Liaison Office Uzbekistan and the Saxon Science Liaison Office Mongolia are academic liaison offices of the Saxon universities for Central Asia and Mongolia. The offices were opened on the initiative of the Saxon State Ministry of Science and Culture (SMWK) under the leadership of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
The tasks of the liaison offices vary depending on the requirements of individual universities and aim to increase the visibility and attractiveness of Saxon universities in Central Asia, especially Uzbekistan and Mongolia, and to attract international students. The Saxon Science Liaison Offices on site provide support with the application process and offer counselling services for prospective students.

Objectives and tasks of the offices abroad
In order to attract prospective students and students from Central Asia and Mongolia to academic programmes and career opportunities in Saxony, the offices have the following tasks:
Marketing activities
Targeted advertising and promotion for Saxon universities in Central Asian and Mongolian educational media, at education fairs, in social media and at universities and schools.
Collaboration with Central Asian and Mongolian educational institutions
Establishing partnerships with schools, colleges and universities to carry out exchange programmes and information events. By building a solid network, partnerships and cooperation between Saxon universities and institutions in Central Asia and Mongolia are promoted.
Collaboration with German organisations (e.g. GIZ and DAAD)

Collaboration will be intensified with the aim of gearing accompanying support measures for international students more strongly towards Saxony than before.
Collaboration with other institutions
The offices work together with relevant institutions in Central Asia and Mongolia, such as ministries of education, education advice centres, etc., as well as cultural organisations, government authorities, companies and other institutions. Alumni network
Establishment and expansion of alumni networks in Uzbekistan and Mongolia to involve former Uzbek and Mongolian students of Saxon universities. These alumni serve as ambassadors to inform and encourage potential applicants.

Organisation of information events and lectures in Central Asia and Mongolia to inform interested parties about study opportunities, application procedures (admission requirements, tuition fees, etc.), cost of living and life in Saxony.

An appealing and informative website, including multilingualism, aimed specifically at potential students from Central Asia and Mongolia.
Scholarships and funding
The offices actively endeavour to find scholarship opportunities for students from Uzbekistan and Mongolia in order to overcome financial hurdles. They develop collaborations with foundations, companies and government programmes to offer scholarships to qualified students.
Evaluation and quality assurance
The offices carry out evaluations of the activities to check the effectiveness and success of the various measures.
