At the KOSMOS Festival on 29 August 2026, science meets culture: in a live podcast held on site, researchers from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg will discuss artificial intelligence in science. There will also be a hands-on activity for children.
‘AI as a Colleague? – How Artificial Intelligence is Changing Research’ – under this title, Max Friedemann, a research assistant at the Chair for Underground Mining Methods, and Akasha Kessel, a PhD student at the Institute of Computer Science, will talk about their work with AI, its benefits and the potential risks of the technology.
The Junior Researchers team at TU Bergakademie Freiberg has organised activities primarily aimed at children: at stand M18 on the ‘Mile of Initiatives’, there will be a creative craft session from 12 noon to 7 pm. Using cardboard, glue and simple physics, participants will make ‘rainbow viewers’. In an upcycling project, old advertising banners will be transformed into creative key rings.
