Information and counselling for international students

We welcome all international first-year students to the Welcome Point in the main university building, Akademiestraße 6 (ground floor) and to the orientation events.

Buddy program
The Buddy Program at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg is especially helpful for international students as it provides them with significant support during their initial days.
Preliminary courses
To prepare students for university study and to refresh their knowledge of the basic subjects, there are preliminary courses in the natural sciences in our orientation and introductory phase.
Courses & Coaching
At the start of the programme, there are courses to impart study skills and to provide support during the first few weeks of study.
Familiarisation events
As a small university, we don't lose contact with lecturers and fellow students! Even before you start your studies, there are plenty of opportunities to network, get to know each other and explore the university city.

Approximately 80-100 sports and health courses ensure a fit balance in everyday student life.
Housing, BAföG & canteen
The Studentenwerk offers an affordable all-round package for living in a central location, provides support with student finance and runs the canteen on campus.
StuRa and student councils
Student initiatives, working groups and clubs offer attractive leisure activities.
