If you are interested in maths, computer science or natural sciences but are not yet sure whether your future career should take you into business and science or whether starting out as a teacher and working with children and young people might be the more suitable option, then you have come to the right place.
Side entry option into the teaching profession in Saxony for the subjects Maths & Computer Science and Physics & Chemistry
Two STEM Bachelor's degree programmes, Applied Natural Sciences, B. Sc. and Applied Computer Science, B. Sc. have been optimised to enable lateral entry into the teaching profession at secondary schools in Saxony for the subjects of physics/chemistry and mathematics/computer science after a successful Master's degree, as the academic training for both subjects has already been completed. Further qualification for educational science, subject didactics and school practice should take place in particular as part of the lateral entry into the preparatory service for the teaching profession in Saxony (also known as traineeship).
Gain teaching experience during your studies
In order to gain teaching experience during the purely subject-focused degree programme and to assess whether the teaching profession is the right prospect, project days for schools and the student laboratory can be organised during the Bachelor's degree programme. In the subsequent Master's programme, teaching experience can be gained through paid work as a substitute teacher at partner schools in the region. Teaching skills development is supported by pedagogically supervised case supervision groups, special training and counselling at the university.
