We welcome all students to the first semester at our university, provide orientation to the start of studies in the central introductory event and familiarize you with important basics of studying.

  • Location: New University Library, Winklerstraße 3
  • Please note: The event language is German. For orientation events in English, please visit the introduction for international students

The International Office will provide information about formalities after arrival in Freiberg, about interesting facts about living and studying as well as about cultural standards in Germany. (Subject to change).

Start-of-studies info exchange

At the info exchange, you will get to know the contact persons of our service institutions, who will assist you with questions about the start of your studies.

  • Sale of lab coats and glasses - Student Council of the Faculty of Chemistry, Physics and Biosciences
  • Info on student life and semester kick-off events - Student Council
  • Distribution of free University Backpacks for all first-year students:Inside who participated in the freshman survey. The Ersti-Rucksack is full of informational materials and giveaways for a successful start to your studies.

Subject-related introductions in the faculties

For all study programs are study introductory events in the faculties. Here, study organizational questions in the study program will be explained, the examination and study regulations will be explained and the timetable will be presented.

Attendance at the subject introduction is strongly recommended.
