Studying in Freiberg - a good choice
TUBAF offers a wide range of Bachelor's, Master's and Diploma programmes, including unique courses such as Applied Science, Materials Science and Technology, Robotics and Engineering.
Practical orientation is our focus, and thanks to our intensive contacts in industry, our students can complete internships or theses with leading companies and research partners and establish contacts with potential employers.
International agreements and exchange programmes promote networking between students from all over the world and offer our students many opportunities to go abroad.
Welcome to the start of your studies
Welcome to the start of your studies at the university! Our introductory and orientation programmes provide important assistance to help you get started with your studies. Pre-courses in the natural sciences, introductions to the degree programmes, services for registering for courses and mentoring programmes help you take your first steps at the university and get to know your contacts and fellow students.
Start of study
Before the courses begin, the orientation and introductory days offer the opportunity to brush up on your A-level knowledge in maths, chemistry and physics, our information exchange offers the opportunity to register for a sports course, lab coats can be purchased and you can get advice on IT issues. There are also opportunities for campus tours, to get to know the university city and a wide range of offers from the StuRa and the student councils.
Welcome, Internationals!
We welcome all international first-year students at the Welcome Point in the main university building, Akademiestraße 6 (ground floor) and to the orientation events.

STEM degree programme with teacher training option
After successfully completing a STEM degree programme, graduates usually go into business, companies, research or do a doctorate. Those who wish to enter the teaching profession can also achieve this with a STEM degree programme at TUBAF. Two STEM Bachelor's degree programmes, Applied Natural Sciences, B. Sc. and Applied Computer Science, B. Sc., have been optimised to enable lateral entry into the teaching profession at secondary schools in Saxony for the subject combination of physics/chemistry and mathematics/computer science after successfully completing a Master's degree.
