On 23 January 2021, we increased the network interface of the central VPN gateway to 10 Gbit/s. This means that even more bandwidth to the campus data network is now available for VPN use.
This was a preventive upgrade of the VPN platform. In future, there will be fewer bottlenecks in ensuring secure and reliable access. Members of our university who work remotely need this, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. Most recently, up to 800 users were connected to the university network via VPN at the same time.
We have also provided an update for the AnyConnect client software. The update is carried out automatically when the AnyConnect software is started on the computer as soon as the user has successfully dialled into the VPN network.
