The contact angle measuring device DSA25 from Krüss is used in the field of materials science and surface technology to characterize and optimize the properties of surfaces. The device can measure both the static and dynamic contact angle between a liquid and a solid surface, which provides information about the wettability of the surface by the liquid. To do this, a small drop of the liquid to be tested is applied to the solid surface. The DSA25 offers software-controlled, precise dosing of the drops, which ensures a high degree of reproducibility of the measuring conditions. The high-resolution camera in combination with a high-quality zoom lens enables precise recording of the droplet's liquid-gas interface at the point of contact with the solid surface. The ADVANCE software included with the device uses an intelligent image evaluation algorithm to determine the shape of the drop and the angle at the three-phase point, providing accurate and reliable analysis results. Thanks to measurement templates and powerful automation functions, analyses can be carried out quickly and reproducibly.

In addition to the classic contact angle measurement, the DSA25 also supports other methods, such as the determination of the surface free energy by carrying out measurements with several liquids, the advancement or retraction of a drop on an inclined surface, the contact angle measurement on an immersed, cylindrical sample and the determination of the contact angle on a gas bubble under a solid surface immersed in liquid.
