Ozone cleaners play a central role in the precise and residue-free cleaning of sensitive surfaces in modern materials and nanoscience. In contrast to conventional wet-chemical cleaning processes, UV ozone cleaners enable dry, chemical-free and at the same time extremely effective decontamination at the molecular level.

The UV Ozone Cleaner - ProCleaner from Bioforce Nanosciences is a compact tabletop device that has been specially developed for these highly sensitive applications. It removes organic contaminants at the molecular level, ensuring that surfaces such as AFM samples, SPTs or other substrates meet the highest standards of cleanliness. At the heart of the system is a high-intensity mercury vapour lamp that generates UV light at a wavelength of 254 nm. This radiation splits the organic bonds on the surface, while at the same time emitted radiation of 185 nm converts the atmospheric oxygen into reactive ozone. The ozone attacks the remaining organic molecule fragments and converts them into volatile, easily removable compounds.

The ProCleaner has a sample stage with a surface area of 100 x 125 mm and utilises a specially developed synthetic quartz lamp to increase the UV and ozone output. In addition to its powerful cleaning function, the system also offers a sophisticated safety concept: an integrated safety interlock mechanism prevents access to the UV and ozone source during operation and thus reliably protects against harmful radiation and ozone exposure.
