Production of Flexible, Adhesive and Functional Microstructures

This project focuses on the development of flexible, adhesive and functional films using a novel hot embossing process. Ultra-thin parylene polymer films are provided with micro- and nanostructures on both sides, which are applied using a special high-pressure process in a vacuum. Parylene is characterized by outstanding properties such as electrical insulation, biocompatibility, chemical inertness and hydrophobicity. A wide variety of structures can be realized that offer a wide range of possible uses in technical applications, e.g. for flexible electronics, optical components or microfluidic systems.
