Sterilisers for laboratory applications are essential devices for ensuring hygienic working conditions and preventing contamination in biological, chemical and medical research environments. They are used to reliably kill or inactivate microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores so that samples, culture media, glassware or instruments can be used under controlled conditions. Due to their central role in quality assurance, sterilisers make a significant contribution to reproducible research results and the safety of personnel and the environment.

A laboratory autoclave from SHP Steriltechnik is used for sterilisation at the institute. This compact device has a chamber volume of 25 litres with a chamber diameter of 265 mm and can be operated without fixed connections. An integrated storage tank with 3 litres each for feed water and condensate ensures flexible use. Up to ten programmes can be conveniently called up and individually adapted at the touch of a button, while automatic documentation is stored directly in the internal memory as a PDF file. For additional safety and transparency, the front cover is made of safety glass so that the sterilisation process can be observed.
