Up-to-date knowledge at your fingertips in your university library
The geosciences and mining sciences are constantly evolving, whether in the research of geological and environmentally relevant processes, in questions of securing raw materials or in engineering geology.
In recent years, the university library has made targeted investments in new textbooks in the relevant subject areas. With our acquisitions, we want to ensure that students in Freiberg in particular have access to cutting-edge fundamentals and practical specialisations at all times and thus provide them with the best tools for their studies and career entry.
Many of these textbooks, basic works, etc. were written by professors at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg.
This year alone, two textbooks for earth and mining sciences have been published again:
Introduction to Applied Mineralogy, 2nd edition
and
- Deep Drilling Technology: An Introduction to the Drilling Development of Hydrocarbon and Geothermal Deposits
The nine textbooks in the field of Earth and Mining Sciences written by Freiberg lecturers in the last five years are available in the cataloge.
Of course, professors from our other faculties also write textbooks. One example is the Faculty of Chemistry, Physics and Life Sciences whose textbooks have just been published:
- Electrodynamics and Phenomenological Thermodynamics: Experimental Physics
- Understanding Classical Mechanics: Experimental Physics
- Chemometrics: statistics and computer application in analytical chemistry

This not only makes it easier to start studying, but also provides confidence: the learning resources are comprehensive, up-to-date and directly accessible - at no extra cost and easily accessible.
Whether it's the basics of mineralogy, an introduction to sedimentology, textbooks on tectonics or specialised volumes on hydrogeology and geophysics - the library creates a wide range of books in close cooperation with the faculty. Most of these textbooks can be used as e-books and can therefore be read flexibly from home or on the move.
