The image memory of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg
What is TUBAFmedia?
TUBAFmedia is the name of the image and object database of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, which is based on the software easydb (Programmfabrik).
It serves:
- as a tool for the organisation, indexing, presentation and archiving of image material and collection objects
- Avoidance of multiple data storage
- Facilitates image searches for courses, publications, public relations work, exhibitions, etc.
- for subsequent use in research and (digital) teaching
- e.g. digitised teaching materials collections from the TUBAFdigital project (formerly VirtFa@TUBAF)
- Strengthens the visibility of Freiberg's collections
- to fulfil funding requirements
- making image material, 3D models etc. publicly accessible, created in third-party funded projects
- to the interested public
- As far as legally possible, selected image material is made accessible worldwide
The TU Bergakademie Freiberg has a rich treasure trove of images and various object-based scientific collections of supra-regional importance, which are increasingly being digitised for their use in research and teaching. Since December 2021, the interdisciplinary image and object database TUBAFmedia has been used for the organisation, indexing, archiving and public accessibility of the digitised material.
