Equipment Licence: Podcast Studio

What is it about?

Podcasts have become a very popular way of delivering content. It feels as though there is now at least one podcast for every niche, and the trend is upwards. The academic world has also embraced this popular method of audio-based, decentralised knowledge transfer and is seeking to use it to bring fundamentally challenging topics from the depths of individual disciplines to the attention of the general public.

Podcasts are topic-centred episodes of varying length and format, though they are primarily text-heavy and feature a presenter and one or, at most, two guests. They can act as a magnifying glass, helping to bring individual topics into focus and explain them with the support of experts.

Podcasts are now also used as a format for assessed coursework. Our learning management system, OPAL, offers the option to upload audio files, thereby enabling podcasts to be integrated into teaching.
