The Mining and Metallurgy Day (today: BHT - Freiberg University Forum) has been held annually in Freiberg since 1949. From 1950 to 2000, participant badges were issued, which were valid as admission tickets and could be worn as a visible sign on clothing.

The BHT medals of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg are mainly made of brown Böttger stoneware, occasionally also of porcelain and were produced in the famous Meissen porcelain manufactory. The obverse is usually adorned with a portrait of an important mining and metallurgy personality, a building or coat of arms, while the reverse bears an inscription referring to the respective annual conference.

After production was discontinued, the remaining stock was handed over to the Freiberg University Library in 2000.
