The Chair of Applied Materials Science at TU Bergakademie is responsible for educating students on the fields of materials science, physical metallurgy, and thermodynamics of materials. The fundamental concepts of materials science are applied to current topics in various (material) systems in order to significantly advance scientific and technological knowledge - both independently and in cooperation with partners from universities, research institutes and industry. Research is conducted by doctoral students and scientists, including the head of the department. Additionally, students are involved in research as part of their projects. The interdisciplinary goal is to introduce students to systematic scientific thinking and working.
