At the start of each semester, the International Office organises orientation events for new international students in collaboration with the faculties, the e-learning coordinator and the Students’ Union. So far, 55 of them have taken part in the summer semester. On 12 April, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Jutta Emes, welcomed the students from abroad.

During the orientation sessions, students receive subject-specific introductions to their degree programmes, as well as information on the necessary formalities following their arrival in Freiberg, key dates during the semester – such as exam registration – and re-enrolment for the following semester. The supporting e-learning tools and digital applications for organising their studies are explained in a separate session. As many students are new to Germany, they also receive practical tips on life in Germany, German culture and expectations of students in a university context.

All welcome offers for new international students, including the orientation programme, are available on the International Office website: Welcome-Services.
