ERASMUS+ Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignment and for Training worldwide

Staff mobility supports the professional development of university staff, whether they are involved in teaching or not, as well as the development of the institutions involved.

Teaching mobility specifically promotes stays abroad for the purpose of teaching. Teaching staff and company personnel can teach at a partner university abroad. Any subject area is possible.

Teaching and staff mobility can be combined.

If you are interested in participating in staff or teaching mobility, please contact us by email and we will help you with further planning!

Staff Mobility for Training

All university employees, from trainees to the rector, are eligible for support within the framework of staff mobility.

The following formats are eligible for support:

  •  Work shadowing
  • Job shadowing
  • Study visits
  • Participation in curriculum development (lecturers)
  • Participation in workshops and seminars
  • Participation in language courses

Application deadlines may vary depending on the partner university and project. However, please contact the IUZ at least three months before the start of your planned stay abroad.

  • minimum five days
  • maximum 60 days
  • Flat rate for staff mobility in Germany: Days 1–14: €190/day; Days 15–60: €133/day
  • Flat rate for staff mobility outside Germany: Days 1–14: €190/day; Days 15–60: €133/day
  • plus travel allowance depending on distance:
     10 to 99 km: €28 (€56 for green travel)
     100 to 499 km: €211 (€285 for green travel)
     500 to 1999 km: €309 (€417 for green travel)

If the difference between the flat rates paid and the actual costs incurred results in a profit, this must be taxed as personal income.

Staff Mobility for Teaching

The following groups of people, for example, are eligible for funding within the framework of teaching mobility: lecturers who have a contractual relationship with the sending university, lecturers without funding, adjunct lecturers, emeritus professors and retired teachers, research assistants, company personnel (incoming).

The required teaching load per stay is eight hours for the first week of the stay or a shorter stay. For each additional day of stay beyond one week (seven days), the minimum number of hours is calculated on a pro rata basis.
If teaching and continuing education are combined, the teaching load is reduced to 4 hours per week. There is no minimum teaching load for invited company personnel.

Application deadlines may vary depending on the partner university and project. However, please contact the IUZ at least three months before the start of your planned stay abroad.
