The minimum duration of an Erasmus internship or traineeship is two months. As a trainee you won't be enrolled at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Therefore, you don't have to apply as if you were an Erasmus student (attending lectures for at least one semester).

The Erasmus internship takes place in one of the six faculties of TU Bergakademie Freiberg. You will need the commitment of an (academic) supervisor. We at the International Centre would appreciate it if you would inform us by email about your planned internship in Freiberg as soon as you have received approval for the placement from your supervisor at the faculty. We will be happy to help you with any questions or problems that may arise during your stay in Freiberg.

Participation in the Erasmus programme does not include insurance cover. It is compulsory for Erasmus trainees to be insured against liability for damage caused at work and against accidents at work. This insurance can be taken out by the employer or by the trainee.

In addition, Erasmus trainees (outgoing and incoming) can take out a combined health, accident and personal liability insurance through the group insurance of the German Academic Exchange Service (Tariff 728/D). Condition for conclusion: "The insurance can only be taken out by foreign students who are doing a compulsory internship in Germany as part of their study regulations. Students who are doing a voluntary internship in Germany cannot take out this insurance".

Whether remuneration must be paid to students on internships in accordance with the Minimum Wage Act depends on two factors:

1. The duration of the internship
2. Whether the internship is voluntary or compulsory

A compulsory internship may also last longer than three months without payment. You should therefore ask for proof of a compulsory internship if necessary. The relevant passage in the study and examination regulations in combination with a current certificate of enrolment is suitable for this.

Please note: If a voluntary internship exceeds the duration of three months, students on an internship are entitled to minimum wage from the first day of the internship (also retroactively). This can also be determined during a retrospective review.

Students on internships are not enrolled at TUBAF and therefore do not receive a student ID card. A guest card can therefore be applied for at the canteen administration for the catering in the canteen. This is possible on weekdays in the administration office of the new canteen (first floor, rear part of the building) during lunchtime. It is recommended to visit the office around 1 pm. The canteen administration requires the fully signed Erasmus Learning Agreement and a certificate of enrolment from the home university as proof.

Programmable access cards for opening doors can usually be obtained from the secretariat of the receiving institute.
