The University Preparatory Program (Studienkolleg) prepares international applicants for the Assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung, FSP), which is a prerequisite for admission to a university degree programme in Germany, in a two-semester course at Abitur level.
Please note that it is not possible to apply directly to the Preparatory Program (Studienkolleg). First you need to apply for a degree program via uni assist and then for the Preparatory Program (Studienkolleg). For further information, please read the notes under “Application.”
Please note: We are the Studienkolleg of the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg located in Freiberg. We are not the Studienkolleg Sachsen in Leipzig.
Application
In order to study at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF), please first apply for the desired degree program via the application portal uni assist.

Once your application documents have been successfully reviewed, you will receive conditional admission to study from TUBAF. This admission is conditional on you passing the assessment test (FSP). To prepare for this test, you can take the T-course at the TUBAF preparatory program (Studienkolleg).
After receiving your conditional admission notice and your German certificate at a minimum level of B1, please send them to the following email address and you will receive an invitation to the entrance exam for German and mathematics:

Note for the summer semester 2026: The application deadline for a degree program + preparatory program (Studienkolleg) via uni assist is October 31, 2025.
Registration
If you would like to register for the T-course at the TUBAF Studienkolleg, please send an email to studienkolleg [at] iuz [dot] tu-freiberg [dot] de (studienkolleg[at]iuz[dot]tu-freiberg[dot]de) and enclose the following documents:
- Letter of admission to a degree program at TU Bergakademie Freiberg
- Proof of German language proficiency at B1 level (certificate)
After we have checked your application, you will receive an invitation to take the entrance test in German language and mathematics. Admission to the Studienkolleg depends on the result of the entrance test.
Course content
The T-course at the Studienkolleg prepares you for the Feststellungsprüfung and for a degree programme in a mathematics, natural sciences or engineering subject in a T-course. The two-semester preparatory course comprises 32 teaching units per week. The language of instruction is German. Study preparation in the T-course is free of charge.

- Physics (6 units)
- Chemistry (4 units)
- Computer science (4 units)
Dates
The preparatory course at the Studienkolleg lasts two semesters. Admission to the T-course at TU Bergakademie Freiberg only takes place in the winter semester.
Academic year 2025/26 - start winter semester
- Admission test: 18 September 2025
- 1st semester: 22 September 2025 to 13 February 2026
- 2nd semester: 9 March to 10 July 2026
- Feststellungsprüfung: 13 July to 31 July 2026
Academic year 2026/27 - start summer semester
- Application deadline via uni assist: 31 October 2025
- Admission test: 13 March 2026
- 1st semester: 23 March to 31 July 2026
- 2nd semester: 7 September 2026 to 22 January 22 2027
- Feststellungsprüfung: 25 January to 12 February 2027
Enrolment
During the preparatory study programme you will be enrolled at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
Assessment test
In the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP), applicants prove that they meet the linguistic, subject-related and methodological requirements for studying the desired degree programme at a university in Germany.
Participation in the FSP is subject to a fee of €300.
