Certificate for the course “Introduction to English for Specific Purposes”
After two semesters of technical language training, a certificate with a grade is obtained after successfully passing the written exam. This is sent directly to the Student Office by IUZ/Languages and can be collected there.
Certificate with grade for general language courses
After two semesters of active participation and passing the final exam for general language courses (except English) a certificate can be issued. This will be sent directly to the Student Office and can be collected there.
UNICERT® certificates
A certificate is issued for attending the required number of courses and passing the examinations (UNIcert® Basis, UNIcert® I or UNIcert®III). This is sent directly to the Student Office by IUZ/Languages and can be collected there.

DAAD language certificates
Students who have not taken a language test as part of their student education but require a language certificate for a period of study abroad, an internship abroad or to obtain a DAAD travel grant or other scholarships have the option of taking a language test. Transcript of Records in English
In order to prepare a transcript of records in English, you will need the official translations of the module titles.
You will find all module descriptions in German and English in the university's internal module database. Access to the module database is restricted to internet-enabled devices in the campus data network, i.e. you may need VPN access to the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
Certificate of attendance
If you attend the courses sufficiently (at least 60% attendance), IUZ/Languages can issue a certificate of attendance upon request.
Commercial English Tests
This is an overview of the most widely accepted commercially available English tests. Our UNIcert III certificate is equivalent to C1 of the CEFR in English level but focusses on language for both specialised and academic purposes whereas these commercial tests, which are not offered by TUBAF, concentrate on general and/or academic English.
TOEFL iBT® (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-Based Test)
A standardised language test that assesses a non-native speaker's knowledge of the English language. The test is recognised by TUBAF as an admission requirement.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
A globally recognised language test from the British Council that determines a person's ability in English as a foreign language. TUBAF accepts the test (Academic) as an admission requirement.
Cambridge
Cambridge English Language Assessment offers certificate examinations in English for non-native speakers.
PTE (Pearson Test of English)
(PTE) Pearsons Academic is a fully computer-based multilevel (B1-C2) English proficiency test that assesses your academic-level speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. It has a unique combination of AI scoring and human expertise to reduce the risk of bias. The test is taken at approved test centers in 2 hours.
(LCA) LanguageCert Academic
is a computer-based multilevel (B1-C2) English proficiency test designed to assess your ability to understand, use, and communicate effectively in English within an academic setting using all four skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. It includes comprehending lectures, participating in discussions, reading and analysing academic texts, and writing research papers or essays. The test can be taken online or at approved test centers in 2.5 hours.
