The German Academic Exchange Service award honours international students who are studying at a German university and who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievements and remarkable social or intercultural engagement. The DAAD award is endowed with 1,000 euros.

Objective: To honour international students studying at a German university who distinguish themselves through excellent academic performance and exceptional social or intercultural commitment.

Requirements: Students must be nominated by a TUBAF university lecturer. The faculty council of the faculty in which the nominated student is studying must decide on the respective nomination. Students cannot apply for the award themselves.

Students must be enrolled on an advanced semester of a full-time study programme or a doctoral programme (students in study preparation programmes, guest students and exchange students are not eligible)

The DAAD Prize is not a research prize and does not recognise doctoral theses.

Prize money: EUR 1,000

Documents to be submitted:

  • a detailed justification of the proposal by the proposing university lecturer
  • Curriculum vitae
  • certificate of enrolment
  • proof of academic achievements (transcript of records)
  • proof of social or intercultural commitment
  • recommendation by the faculty council

Deadline for submitting nominations: 17 October 2025

TUBAF is responsible for selecting the award winner. The final decision will be made by the Rectorate. 

The award is scheduled to be presented at the graduation ceremony on 8 November 2025.
