76th BHT - FREIBERGER UNIVERSITÄTSFORUM

Large collections of ground joints

The Saxon universities in Freiberg, Leipzig and Dresden, the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology, the Senckenberg Natural History Collections Dresden and Wismut GmbH have extensive collections of ore ground joints. Digital availability would considerably facilitate and, above all, expand the use of the analogue collections. The technical prerequisites are already in place at the university library in Freiberg with the automated Zeiss Axio Imager Vario microsection scanner and the powerful TUBAFmedia image management system.

The ninth workshop "Digitisation in geoscientific collections" will discuss metadata concepts and applications based on initial experiences with the automated Zeiss Axio Imager Vario micrograph scanner.
