Collection
Significant historical holdings of the collection are the originals of WERNER's, BREITHAUPT's and WEISBACH's mineral discoveries, as well as the Rittersgrün meteorite and the WERNER estate. More recent holdings of comparable importance are a proustite collection from Schlema, silver specimens from Pöhla, bismuth crystal specimens from Schlema and whewellite crystals from Freital, Schlema and Ronneburg.
The collection now comprises around 95,000 inventoried specimens.
