Sustainable value creation forum: circular economy and logistics

Sustainable value creation forum: circular economy and logistics

The transformation towards an efficient circular economy is a basic prerequisite for achieving the set sustainability goals and can become a driver of innovation and growth in Germany and Europe.

Under the motto "Designing sustainable industrial value chains: from the circular economy to renewable energies and green logistics", the Freiberg Center for Circular Economy (FCCE) together with the "Innovation & Kreislaufwirtschaft Sachsen e.V. (IKS)" is organising an interdisciplinary specialist colloquium with a focus on circular economy value creation and green logistics. It will look at technical innovations as well as their economic implementation and the necessary political control mechanisms. The aim of the event is not only to exchange expertise, but above all to network different stakeholders from business, science and administration in the region.

The one-day interdisciplinary colloquium is divided into the following focal points:

  • Process and process engineering for the circular economy: Various research institutions and companies have diverse technical expertise in the field of the circular economy. In this partial colloquium, various current developments in process and process engineering for the circular economy will be presented and discussed.
  • Modelling and analysis of circular economy value chains: In addition to the development of new technologies, transparency regarding emerging material flows and their recycling paths is a central basis for decision-makers from politics and business. Various quantitative modelling and evaluation methods are used for this purpose, which will be presented and discussed in this specialist colloquium.
  • Green logistics and sustainability in the transport sector: Logistics, i.e. the transport, handling and storage of recyclable materials and products, play an important role in the design of sustainable value chains. In this sub-colloquium, the transformation of the transport sector and possibilities for low-emission logistics will be discussed.
  • Policy and governance of sustainable value creation: Manufacturing companies are subject to extensive regulatory frameworks that are also increasingly focussed on more efficient recycling management. This colloquium will reflect on the incentivising effect of current circular economy legislation and discuss the effectiveness of state institutions.
