The BHT - Freiberg University Forum offers a platform for professional dialogue between science, business and society. In several specialist colloquia, participants discuss current issues relating to resource extraction, processing and other topics that characterise the university's profile. Insights into the latest research findings from all faculties will also be provided.

The origins of the conference lie in the "Berg- und Hüttenmännischer Tag" (BHT), which was founded in 1947 by students including W. Arnold and O. Wagenbreth. Wagenbreth, was brought to life. The aim was to invite representatives from industry to give them the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the results of scientific theses, make contacts and gain insights into professional practice. This initiative gained international recognition and developed into the university's main scientific event. In its current form, the BHT has been held annually since 1949.

Continuing this tradition, the BHT today serves as a forum for communication and cooperation between science, industry and society. With its numerous colloquia, it covers the university's various specialist areas and promotes interdisciplinary exchange.
