Recht und Wirtschaft

Study concept

The interdisciplinary degree programme in Law and Business qualifies students for the legal and business challenges of modern business. The programme focuses on the structure and functioning of the German and European legal system as well as the central regulatory complexes of business law - always in interaction with business and economic contexts.

Thanks to the close interlinking of legal and economic content, you will develop a strong interdisciplinary understanding. You will learn to systematically analyse business law problems and develop viable solutions - precisely where law and business meet in practice.

The compulsory modules first lay your specialist foundation and then go into greater depth on the content that is particularly relevant in professional practice. The focus here is on key legal and economic topics. The compulsory elective modules also open up a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your own individual profile: You can set your own priorities, deepen your knowledge of legal methods and develop your interdisciplinary thinking in different teaching and learning formats.

In terms of content, you will acquire comprehensive knowledge in the central areas of law - including civil law, commercial and corporate law, labour law, competition law and European business law. This is supplemented by specialised areas such as raw materials and environmental law, construction and planning law, innovation law and data management and technology law. At the same time, you will be taught solid business fundamentals, such as accounting, cost accounting, marketing, financing, personnel management and corporate management.

A particular feature of the degree programme is its strong practical orientation: case studies, contract analyses, workshops and integrated internships ensure a direct link to the professional world. As a result, you will be ideally prepared to recognise legal risks in economic contexts at an early stage, draft legally compliant contracts and evaluate operational decisions from a legal and economic perspective.

Study fields

Based on the knowledge acquired in the corresponding foundation modules, the specialization teaches more specific knowledge in the areas of tax types and corporate taxation, operational controlling as well as investment and financing theory. Students develop an understanding of the financial aspects of corporate management, including portfolio management, the influence of taxation on corporate decisions and generation of information required by management to make decisions.

The specialization offers students the opportunity to deal intensively with marketing management instruments, personnel management and project management. This focus enables them to acquire a broad range of skills to be able to operate successfully in the areas of marketing, personnel management and project management.

Students who choose this specialization deepen their knowledge of Energy and Raw Materials Management, Environmental Management and Policies as well as Investment and Financing Theory. This specialization enables them to master the economic challenges associated with energy and resources in a sustainable manner.

Students who choose this specialization focus on Business Process Management and Business Intelligence, Software Engineering and Operational Controlling. This specialization enables an in-depth examination of the efficient design and application of information technology systems.

In this specialization, business knowledge in production management is combined with engineering modules according to individual focus. As a result, students learn to operate in an interdisciplinary manner.
