Working together to further develop teaching evaluation: IUZ/Languages organises workshop

How can the quality of teaching be further improved? The IUZ/Languages team addressed this question on 9 September in a workshop on the topic of ‘teaching evaluation’.

The IUZ/Languages has been regularly evaluating its courses for several years now. In future, the questionnaires used for this purpose are intended to help gather valuable feedback from students in an even more targeted manner and to derive ideas for the further development of teaching.

During the workshop, the questionnaires used to date were critically analysed and discussed together with Freya Geishecker from the Higher Education Didactics Team at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. The focus was, amongst other things, on the quality and relevance of the questions, as well as on determining which types of feedback are particularly helpful for the further development of the courses.

Participants were able to contribute their experiences and perspectives and work together to develop new ideas and insights. The results of the workshop now form the basis for the revision of the questionnaires by the IUZ/Languages ‘Teaching Evaluation’ working group.

An important next step has already been planned: in the coming academic year, the IUZ/Languages courses are to be evaluated for the first time using the newly revised questionnaires. In this way, the team aims to make even more targeted use of student feedback in order to continuously improve the quality of teaching.
