• Scope: 2 SWS course, 2 SWS self-study per semester
• Prerequisites: none
• Costs: Participation in the course is free of charge for students and doctoral candidates enrolled at TUBAF and for employees. For guest listeners, a course fee of €30 per semester is charged.

• Course content: The participant learns simple communication skills for everyday situations, as well as the Hiragana and Katakana character systems according to the Hepburn system and Kanji according to the vocabulary taught.
• Teaching material: Marugoto A 1 Katsudoo and Marugoto A 1 Rikai (published by Japan Foundation)
• Examination/degree: 4 CP and certificate on successful completion. The module ends with an exam (90 minutes). Admission to the examination is granted if active participation in at least 80% of the courses is fulfilled.
