Double doctorates

A double doctorate is carried out in cooperation with an international partner university. In order to obtain an international double doctorate degree, you generally have to spend at least 6 months researching at the partner university and publish the results of your work there together with the international research group, as well as fulfil the requirements there, such as participating in a special training programme.

 

There are currently double doctorate agreements with the following universities:

  • Brazil: Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul
  • Bulgaria: University of Mining and Geology "St Ivan Rilski" Sofia
  • Chile: Universidad Catolica del Norte (UCN)
  • Chile: Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH)
  • China: Wuhan University of Science and Technology
  • Estonia: Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech)
  • Poland: AGH Krakow University of Science and Technology
  • Poland: Silesian University of Technology Gliwice
  • Romania: University of Petrosani
  • Ukraine: Dnipro University of Technology

Further agreements are currently in preparation, e.g. with Ghent University in Belgium.

If you are planning a double doctoral programme with another university, you will also receive support from the GraFA.

  • We provide you with sample contracts and handouts - both for the framework agreements between the two cooperating universities and for the individual contracts that must be concluded for all doctoral candidates who wish to complete their doctorate as part of a double doctoral programme,
