Annual Meeting of the Scientific Diving Centre
The SDC cordially invites all members and interested parties to the Annual General Meeting, which will take place on 31 January 2025 at 18:00. As in previous years, we will meet in the rooms of the Alte Elisabeth. The event not only serves to look back on an eventful 2024, but also offers the opportunity to ring in the new year in a convivial atmosphere.
Programme highlights:
Review of 2024: The most important projects and highlights of the past year will be presented
Specialist presentations: Exciting insights into current topics in scientific diving.
Social evening: Space for exchange, networking and a cosy get-together with food and drink.

Special Course
The "Scientific Diver" training course is a compact and in-depth block course taking place this year from 28/06 - 07/07/2024. Extensive knowledge for certification as a scientific diver will be imparted, as well as a variety of practical exercises and examinations. The excursion as part of the training will take place at the beginning of September.
Night of Science and Business 25.05. start at 6 pm
On May 25, the Night of Science and Business will take place in Freiberg. The Scientific Diving Center will also be represented with a stand.
The Scientific Diving Center (SDC) at TU Bergakademie Freiberg trains students and scientists to become scientific divers and conducts international research into underwater topics. The diving tower will provide insights into this activity during the Night of Science. Divers will be demonstrating their tasks and fields of activity live underwater, as well as the measuring technology used during the missions. In addition to the operation of underwater measuring equipment, the safety of the divers is the top priority in every mission. Furthermore, exciting research projects will be presented with exhibits and videos and all questions will be answered by experienced divers at the stand.

Dive Camps
As part of the "Scientific Diving 1", the diving camps in summer are a highlight and highlight of the practical training for scientific diving. In these camps, the exercises from the swimming pool are consolidated under real conditions and additional methods such as water sampling or operating measuring equipment are carried out.

"The Scientific Diver graduation is complete" - Annual General Meeting of the Scientific Diving Centre 2024
With much applause, five students from different disciplines were certified as internationally recognised "Scientific Diver".
Prof. Dr Tobias Fieback, Head of the Scientific Diving Centre, and Dr Thomas Pohl, the main instructor responsible, presented the students with their hard-earned and deserved certificates and their new diving certification.

In keeping with tradition, we would like to organise another annual meeting of scientific divers at the beginning of 2024. Divers of the SDC at the beginning of 2024.
