Development of geopolymer composites as a material for the protection of hazardous wrecks and other critical underwater structures
The aim of the project is the material development of a geopolymer composite for underwater additive manufacturing to contain hazardous substances and thus eliminate the risk posed by corroding shipwrecks. Research is being conducted into the additive manufacturing of environmentally friendly high-performance composites with functional properties for technical underwater applications such as the construction and marine industries. Environmentally friendly geopolymers from mineral and synthetic sources are used as matrix materials, the strength of which is reinforced using fibres or particles.
