Our group leader for human-machine systems, David Scherb, together with his former colleagues PD Dr Jörg Miehling and Patrick Steck from the KTmfk - Chair of Design Engineering under the direction of Prof Dr Sandro Wartzack, was awarded the Innovation Prize at the WiGeP Autumn Conference at Chemnitz University of Technology. Sandro Wartzack with the Innovation Award of the Scientific Society for Product Development WiGeP at the WiGeP Autumn Conference at Chemnitz University of Technology.
The team developed a method for the virtual design of structurally optimised passive ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) by integrating musculoskeletal human simulation and finite element analysis. The method enables the design of a novel passive AFO equipped with a torsion spring and specifically tailored to patients' needs.
Congratulations to David and all the award winners on this great achievement, which recognises the hard work invested in this important and sustainable topic for our future!
