The TU Bergakademie Freiberg and the Silesian University of Technology are developing a joint degree programme in International Business. To this end, both universities signed an agreement in October. The programme forms part of the European university alliance EURECA-PRO. Students on the MBA course of study in International Business and Resources in Emerging Markets - IBRE at TU Bergakademie Freiberg and students on the Cognitive Technologies course of study at the Faculty of Organisation and Management at the Silesian University of Technology can now apply for the programme (https://tu-freiberg.de/International Business and Resources in Emerging Markets - IBRE/das-programm).
The Master’s programme comprises a total of four semesters and 120 ECTS credits, of which 60 ECTS are completed at the Silesian University of Technology (Gliwice) and a further 60 ECTS at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Under the dual degree programme, which has been coordinated between the two courses of study, students can switch between the two partner universities and are entitled to mutual recognition of the learning outcomes they have achieved. Joint supervision of the master's thesis is also an important component of the new dual degree programme.
The European university alliance EURECA-PRO enables students to study at both campuses
Both universities are members of the European University Alliance EURECA-PRO, within which the dual degree programme is being implemented. The new course of study combines the complementary skills of both courses of study and deepens students’ experience and knowledge in overlapping areas. At the Silesian University of Technology, students develop expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cognitive analytics, human-computer interaction, management and cognitive science, whilst at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg the programme focuses, amongst other things, on international investment and economic relations, resource economics, econometrics, decision support systems and innovation management.
The agreement was signed by the heads of the two universities, Professor Marek Pawełczyk and Professor Jutta Emes, as well as by the deans of the cooperating Faculties, Professor Aleksandra Kuzior and Professor Michael Höck.
