Maths and computer science - more than arithmetic!

Artificial intelligence, robots, smart computing, simulations and efficient, computer-aided computing have become indispensable in today's world and are the development of the future. But is it all magic or can it be easily explained with maths and computer science?

We'll get to the bottom of things with you - whether you're a pupil, teacher or student!

On this page, you'll not only find information about our degree programmes, but also a wide range of opportunities to experience mathematics and computer science up close with us.

Fire and flame - studying mathematics or computer science is your thing?

We recommend taking a look at our study programmes! We can't promise superpowers, but with our programme you'll be well prepared for the future. With us, you will learn the latest methods of mathematics and computer science, focus on applications during your studies and come into contact with current research - sometimes even actively participate in research - and thus shape the future.

Your individual support and encouragement is particularly important to us. Our teaching and research team is always ready to listen. What's more, your degree programme with us is not set in stone. With over 50% options to choose from in your degree programme, a flexible study schedule, small groups and project teams, you can tailor your studies to your individual needs. You can also start your studies on our university campus with the short distances of a stress-free city. By the way, have you heard about our study start package with the housing scout that will guide you to your affordable flat?

Many reasons, but by no means all, to study maths or computer science in Freiberg. Others are already here and have above-average grades. Need proof? For example, around 3.5% of our students receive a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship (national average 1%). Maybe you too?

Feel like a student and experience maths & computer science

How do artificial intelligence processes work and how can they be made fun of? Why does music sound? How does a navigation system find the shortest route? You can experience all this and much more in our programmes for pupils, school classes, teachers and prospective students.
