Diploma thesis in the field of processing technology

After intensive months of hard work, Markus Jacob has successfully completed his diploma thesis at the IART of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. In his thesis, Markus addressed a current problem in recycling: the challenge of full-sleeve labels on PET bottles, which make sorting by material and colour difficult.

Title of thesis:
Development of AI-based multi-sensor sorting of full-body-sleeve PET bottles

Markus investigated an alternative sorting method based on object recognition to efficiently sort bottles based on visual characteristics such as colour, label size and brand. His experiments confirmed that this approach works successfully and is a promising alternative to previous sorting methods.
