01st October 2024, Prof. Fuhrmann opened the new semester at the Faculty of Mechanical, Process and Environmental Engineering and warmly welcomed all first-semester students.

Around 300 students, doctoral and post-doctoral students have chosen to study at our faculty. We look forward to welcoming you and wish you a good start to the winter semester 2024/25.

Dean of the Faculty Prof. Bräuer, addresses all members of the Faculty with a few words about the new semester.

Dear students
dear members of staff
dear professors,

The summer semester SoSe-2024 is drawing to a close and the upcoming winter semester WiSe-2024/2025 is just around the corner. I would like to take this as an opportunity to send you a brief information email.

I wish you all a good start to the coming WiSe-2024/2025 and I would especially like to welcome all those who are new to Fakultät 4 at TUBAF, either as first semester students, new staff or new professors. Please take advantage of the introductory weeks and welcome and information events before teaching starts on October 14.

Professor Ams (Technical Mechanics-Dynamics) is retiring at the end of September. His successor, Professor Römer, will start at the beginning of October. A warm welcome to Professor Römer! What sounds like a seamless transition was only possible because Professor Ams agreed to postpone his retirement several times. Many thanks for that!

During the summer, the topic of “external theses” was discussed in the faculty. The Fakultätsrat drew up a document to serve as a guide for our students, examiners and supervisors on external theses. These guidelines only apply to Master's or Diploma theses, as Bachelor's theses at our faculty are usually carried out outside TUBAF anyway because they are linked to the specialist internship. I hope that this guide provides a quick overview of the conditions under which external theses can be carried out and the special features (insurance cover, payment, intellectual property) that students in particular need to be aware of. You can find these guidelines and many other useful documents in the OPAL course of Faculty 4, which you can register for at any time as a member of the faculty (students are members of the faculty anyway).
