Excursions are an important part of the faculty culture and provide students and employees with an elementary exchange with partners from business and society. They offer a valuable addition to the traditional curriculum by enriching the learning process and promoting students' professional development. For this reason, students at our faculty are required to complete a certain number of excursions, depending on their specialisation.
The following are insights into excursions already completed:
Excursion to Hartmannsdorf brewery
The Institute of Energy Process Engineering enabled the students to go on an excursion to the Hartmannsdorf brewery on 6 June 2025.
Excursion to Eisenhüttenstadt
Important insights into industrial processes and a concrete idea of how engineers in various professions tackle current challenges - this is what TUBAF students Clara Zerbs and Fabian Bertram take away from an excursion to the Eisenhüttenstadt steelworks. ArcelorMittal is trialling the production of green steel there. The industrial excursion with a total of 11 students was funded by the scholarship programme of the Centre for Efficient High-Temperature Material Conversion (ZeHS).
Excursion power plant technology
The Institute of Energy Process Engineering enabled students to go on an excursion to the "Nossener Brücke" combined heat and power plant on 29 January 2025 as part of the "Power Plant Technology" course.
Visit to ACHEMA & Industriepark Höchst
From 10 to 12 June 2024, a group of almost 20 students from TU Bergakademie Freiberg took part in an excursion to ACHEMA and Industriepark Höchst in Frankfurt am Main. The excursion was organised by ITUN.
