Students from our faculty as well as members of our institute have visited the Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz last week. After an introduction by Mrs. Hundt and Dr. Stieger on the syntheses of ammonia, nitric acid and urea, we had the oppertunity to visit the production plants as well as fertilizer silos. Subsequently, we have visited SKWP's Science Center futurea at Wittenberg. After beeing welcomed there by Janina Dorn we have interactively explored the topics of food supply as well as synthesis and use of ammonia and urea. Finally, two short lectures on actual student projects at SKWP have rounded up our visit. We would like to thank SWKP for this impressive tour through the production plants an the futurea Science Center. We also acknowledge the financial support from our faculty (Fakultät für Maschinenbau, Verfahrens- und Energietechnik) enabling this scientific and educational trip.
